Nutzman and Woods lead the charge as Greenville secures victory over SSA
Marietta, GA (June 11, 2025)- The Greenville Liberty continued its winning form on the road Saturday night with a composed 2-0 victory over Southern Soccer Academy in Marietta, Georgia.
From the opening whistle, Greenville set the tempo with confident possession and attacking intent. Their first-half dominance paid off in the 12th minute when Peyton Nutzman spotted the SSA goalkeeper off her line and brilliantly chipped her to give the Liberty an early lead. The goal capped a strong start and underlined Greenville’s control of the opening half, which they closed out ahead 1-0.
After the break, SSA adjusted tactically and began to find a foothold in the match. The hosts strung together promising spells of possession, but Greenville’s backline held firm. Just as SSA began to show signs of life, Camryn Woods put the game to rest. In the 79th minute, a corner fell to Woods in the box, who powerfully slotted it home to double the lead and seal the result.
The Liberty’s road win keeps them in second place in the South Central Division and adds crucial points to their tally in the hunt for a potential wild card playoff spot. With postseason implications growing by the week, Greenville will look to cap off another win next week in Knoxville.
