Quick turnaround and tough opponent challenge Liberty.
Greenville, SC (May 16, 2025)- The Greenville Liberty Soccer Club battled hard in their second match of the 2025 season but ultimately fell 4-1 to the reigning division champions, Tennessee Soccer Club, at Paladin Stadium on Friday night.
Liberty returned to action just two days after their win, meeting the challenge of back-to-back matches with resilience. Tennessee struck first with a goal in the 19th minute and quickly added a second less than 10 minutes later. The Liberty showcased some strong defensive moments, including key blocks and clearances, to keep the match competitive. Despite the home team’s efforts, TSC held a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Tennessee pushed the lead to 3-0 early in the second half; Greenville responded with determination. A foul in the box led to a penalty kick, Christian Brathwaite calmly converted to put Liberty on the board and earning her Woman of the Match honors. Her goal sparked energy, boosted further by a round of fresh substitutes eager to challenge Tennessee’s pace, however, Greenville’s last push wasn’t enough to topple TSC’s 4-1 lead.
Although the result didn’t go Greenville’s way, the club has the potential to bounce back on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 pm in Paladin Stadium versus Chattanooga Red Wolves. Get your tickets here.
