Club will field youth team again for one-off tournament as women’s pre-professional team enters third season
Greenville, SC (September 19, 2023) – The Greenville Liberty Soccer Club announced today the first round of tryout dates for its 2024 USL Academy Cup and USL W League teams. The Liberty enters its third season in 2024.
This will be the fourth year the Upstate will send a U19 Girls all-star team to Tampa, FL to compete in the USL’s elite youth soccer tournament. The tournament will be held a week earlier next year, from March 14 to 17th at the Hillsborough County Tournament SportsPlex.
Led by Liberty Head Coach, Julie Carlson, Greenville will hold tryouts on October 7th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the MESA Soccer Complex. Thirty players will be identified for a selection pool of which 18 will be rostered, plus alternates. The team will be comprised of the top female youth players from across the Upstate between the ages of 15 and 19. There is no cost to tryout and if a player is unable to make the tryouts, they can attend the make-up date on December 16th. Learn more about the Academy Cup or register to tryout here.
Greenville’s USL W League team, a pre-professional squad, will also be searching for its 2024 squad starting in mid-December. Tryouts for the 2022 South Atlantic champions begin on December 16th from 3:00-5:00 PM at MESA Soccer Complex. Secondary tryout dates will be announced in the coming months.
