Liberty adds three more to roster
Greenville, SC (April 20, 2023)- The Greenville Liberty announced the signing of Alexah Fite, Katherine Cunningham and Grace Workman, pending league and federation approval. They will join the 2023 roster ahead of the club’s sophomore season.
A returnee from 2022, Alexah Fite appeared in six matches last season and recorded 65 minutes of playing time, including an appearance in the USL W League semifinal match versus Long Island. Last fall, she completed her sophomore season in the Upstate at North Greenville University. The midfielder started all 18 matches, spent 1,181 minutes on the pitch, totaled 15 points with five assists and five goals, making her NGU’s second-leading goal-scorer for the season.
Fite graduated from Rockwall-Heath High School in Texas, where was named the Attacking Player of the Year during her senior year. In addition, she competed with both the Sting and Renegades Youth Soccer Clubs in Texas.
Katherine Cunningham is a sophomore at the Florida Institute of Technology, last season she appeared in the Panther’s backline in 18 matches, for a total of 998 minutes, and tied the team lead with seven assists. Before being a Panther, Cunningham attended USC Upstate, notched one goal, three assists and started 12 matches as a true freshman.
A London native, Cunningham is a graduate of John Madejski Academy and competed pre-professionally for Portsmouth Football Club between 2020-2021. Prior to Portsmouth, she spent her youth career at the Brighton and Hove Albion Youth Football Clubs.
Grace Workman joins the Liberty after finishing her first year at Longwood University located in Farmville, VA. The goalkeeper has strong ties to the Upstate as a J.L. Mann High School and CESA ECNL alumni. While at Mann, Workman guarded the net in the 2019 and 2021 State Championship, winning the title in 2021. She was also selected for the S.C. All-State team and as a goalkeeper in the Carolina Classic tournament for 2022.
The trio will take to the pitch this summer with a mix of new and veteran players when the Liberty begins its season on May 12th. Greenville will look to secure its second South Atlantic Division title and make another run at the USL W League final.
