2023 FALL FACE OFFS

Greenville, SC (August 15, 2023) – Though it’s our offseason, our Liberty players are still working hard! 23 of our players are competing at the collegiate level across 20 different schools. This year, there are 18 games where Greenville Liberty players will face off against each other. Follow along the #WatchHerinCollege Series as we cover six of the marquee matches highlighting the Liberty on our social media.

The first match we will be covering is:

Clemson vs South Carolina- August 17th

SEC champion South Carolina travels to Clemson to kickoff the collegiate soccer season on August 17th at 7:00pm! The Liberty’s Emma Wennar is kicking off her second season as a Tiger, playing against Liberty teammates Autumn Cayelli, Taylor Fox, and Dubem Dike. Last time the cross-state rivals met, the match ended in a 2-2 draw. We are looking forward to seeing which team comes out victorious this Thursday!

Coastal Carolina vs College of Charleston- August 27st

On August 27th, College of Charleston and Liberty player Emmie Wannemacher travels to Conway, SC for a face-off with Coastal Carolina and fellow Liberty player Natalie Yoo, who recently transferred to CCU from Texas A&M. These South Carolina teams last met on August 21st, 2022 and the Cougars topped the Chanticleers 3-0. Who is going to take home the victory this year?

Kennesaw State vs Samford- September 10th

Allanah Blye and Kennesaw State head to Samford University for a matchup against Liberty teammate, Martha Bishop, on September 10th. These out-of-conference foes haven’t played since 2021 when the Owls secured a 2-1 win at home. Blye who is used to seeing Bishop in her backline for the Liberty will now see her on the other side of the pitch when these two teams meet in September.

Auburn vs South Carolina- September 29th

September 29th brings us an SEC showdown- South Carolina at Auburn. The Gamecocks’ Taylor Fox, Autumn Cayelli, and Dubem Dike will be opposite their Liberty teammate and Auburn Tiger, Carly Thatcher. The Gamecocks are the defending 2022 SEC Champions, but these two southern powerhouses haven’t taken the pitch together since 2021, where Auburn took home the crown after a 2-1 win. We are awaiting this, sure to be, high-energy match!

Anderson vs Catawba College- October 21st

On October 21st, Anderson University and Catawba College are facing off in SAC conference play. Trojan Head Coach and Liberty defender, Sarah Jacobs will lead her team against Sydney Jimmo, Alexah Fite and Sharon Mayes with Catawba. Last season Catawba came out on top with a 1-0 win and finish with a 8-1-2 conference record, but it’s anyones match in 2023!

Georgia vs Auburn- October 26th

Late in the season, the Auburn Tigers head to Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs on October 26th at 6pm. Liberty forward Carly Thatcher is entering her third season as a Tiger, while Liberty midfielder Christian Brathwaite is making her collegiate debut as a Bulldog. The two teams last met on September 17th, 2021 and Georgia fell to Auburn 0-2. This season’s showdown is one to watch!
