UNC Charlotte Forward & CofC Defender re-sign for the 2023 Season
Greenville, SC (March 7, 2023)-The Greenville Liberty SC announces the re-signing of Bailey Manfredi and Emmie Wannemacher, pending league and federation approval. The Upstate locals will join the Liberty roster for the club’s sophomore season and bring veteran experience to the pitch this summer.
Bailey Manfredi returns to Greenville following her initial signing with the club in its inaugural season, earning her spot on the team after an impressive performance at open tryouts last January. During the 2022 season, she competed in seven regular season matches and both of the club’s playoff appearances, for a total of 311 minutes. She had three assists in 2022, including one in each playoff match and the Division championship.
The Greenville native is a CESA ECNL alum, and during her time with the youth club she ranked 10th on TopDrawerSoccer.com ECNL Top Scorers in 2019 and was an asset to the quarterfinals in the 2019 ECNL Playoffs, where she scored the game-winning goal. Manfredi, a St. Joseph’s Catholic School graduate, signed with UNC Charlotte in 2021 as a midfielder/forward. She left her mark during her freshman season, where she tied for the team lead with three assists and was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. She scored her first career goal on a game-winner against Coastal Carolina on September 8th. Then, later that week she recorded her second goal and an assist to bring her point total to five in the two games, earning her the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week.
Emmie Wannemacher also returns to the Liberty after competing with the club during its inaugural season and spending 308 minutes on the pitch. The defender recently completed her sophomore season at the College of Charleston, where she appeared in 16 matches for 746 minutes. During her freshman season, she competed in 18 matches totaling 911 minutes for the Cougars.
Like Manfredi, Wannemacher hails from the Upstate and competed with the CESA ECNL youth club. She graduated from J.L. Mann in 2021, boasting an impressive high school soccer resume. She was named to the SC 5A All-State Team, invited to participate in the Clash of the Carolinas all-star event, and assisted the team to State Championship wins in 2018 and 2019.
Manfredi and Wannemacher join the roster for a second year alongside fellow Liberty returners Julie Mackin and Haley Schueppert and club newcomers Patrice DiPasquale and Gabriela Gonzalez. The 2023 USL W League is set to kick off its second season this May. To purchase season tickets, click here.
