Greenville Pens Mackin and Schueppert for second season
Greenville, SC (February 16, 2023)- The Greenville Liberty announced the signing of Julie Mackin and Haley Schueppert, pending league and federation approval. The former Clemson teammates will compete with the Liberty for a second season after joining the team last year. The teammates reunite for a third club, sharing roster spots at Clemson University and as members of Real Colorado Youth Club.
Julie Mackin returns to the club after a strong inaugural season, appearing in 13 matches totaling 1,132 minutes on the pitch. Mackin proved to be an asset both on defense and offense last season, with five goals and 13 total points.
As a Clemson Tiger, she logged 4,218 minutes over four years and was a member of the 2016 ACC Championship-winning squad. Mackin was a standout player at Castle View High School in Colorado. As a youth player she received the honor of 2016 Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year and was a competitor on the U18 Women’s National Team.
Haley Schueppert also joins the club’s roster for a second season. During the 2022 season, the defender appeared in 13 matches and collected a total of 1,161 minutes of playing time. Schueppert was a key player in the club’s playoff campaign, appearing in every minute of both matches.
During her time with the Tigers, she logged 217 minutes and was the recipient of the prestigious Bill D’Andrea Tiger Paw Award, awarded to the student athlete with the leading community service contributions. In her home state, Schueppert was the Colorado High School Soccer Sportswoman of the Year, named to the U.S. Youth Team roster and attended two U.S. Soccer U18 Youth Camps
Mackin and Schueppert join the roster alongside fellow Clemson women’s soccer alumni Patrice DiPasquale and Sarah Jacobs.
