Fite, Cunningham, and Parsons bolster Greenville squad
Greenville, SC (April 2, 2024) – The Greenville Liberty Soccer Club has announced the return of Alexah Fite, Kat Cunningham, and Riley Parsons ahead of the 2024 season, pending league and federation approval. Just a month away from its Home Opener the Liberty looks forward to a great season with the addition of these three seasoned players. Tickets for the 2024 season are on sale now.
Kat Cunningham
A native of London, England, Katherine Cunningham returns to the Liberty’s defensive line for her sophomore season. Last season, Cunningham recorded one goal during the seven matches she appeared in.
The defender spent two seasons seasons with the Florida Institute of Technology, totaling 2,564 minutes, 16 points with one goal and 14 assists in 41 appearances. In 2023, Cunningham played a key role in helping the Panthers to the Final Four of the NCAA DII tournament. Prior to being a Panther, Cunningham played at USC Upstate, where she garnered one goal, three assists, and started in 12 matches as a true freshman. The defender plans on continuing her soccer career at Florida Atlantic University for her fifth collegiate season.
During her earlier years, Cunningham attended John Madejski Academy in Reading, U.K. and spent time competing pre-professional for Portsmouth Football Club between 2020 and 2021. She also previously played for Brighton and Hove Albion Youth Football Clubs as a youth.
Riley Parsons
After a great two seasons with the club, midfielder Riley Parsons joins the 2024 squad for another run. The 2022 returnee has appeared in eight matches with a total of 447 minutes on the pitch.
Parsons, a Greenville native, competed for University of Alabama-Birmingham during her freshman and sophomore years tallying 23 matches and 901 minutes, helping the Blazers record seven shutouts. Following her transfer from UAB after the 2020 season, Parsons returned to the Upstate to attend Furman University. As a Paladin, the midfielder logged 22 matches and three points with one goal and one assist her senior season.
Before beginning her college career, Parsons was a two-time team captain at Wade Hampton High School, where she received many athletic accolades:
- 2015 Rookie of the Year
- 2017-18 5A All-Upstate Second Team
- 2018-19 5A All-Upstate Class First Team
- 2019 North-South Game competitor
The local also played club soccer for CESA, where she helped her team to the ECNL national quarterfinals as a junior.
Alexah Fite
Midfielder, Alexah Fite is back for her third season with the club, having been with the Liberty since 2022. Throughout her time with Greenville, Fite has appeared in 10 matches and tallied 213 minutes on the pitch.
The Dallas, Texas native spent her junior season with Catawba College, where she started in 20 out of the 23 matches, recording three assists. Fite helped her team advance far in the NCAA DII tournament and was named an All-Conference player due to her tremendous efforts. The midfielder previously played in the Upstate for North Greenville University during her freshman and sophomore years. Fite earned the title of NGU’s second-leading goal-scorer for the 2022 season, totaling 16 points with six assists and five goals throughout her 29 matches and 1,334 minutes of playing time.
During her senior year of high school, the four-year varsity letterman was named the Attacking Player of the Year at Rockwall-Heath High School in Texas. She also earned Academic All-District Team four times and her team’s offensive MVP in 2021, recording 34 points, 10 goals, and 14 assists during her junior and senior years.
