Greenville, SC (March 18, 2024)- For more than 15 years, Girls on the Run Upstate SC has provided life-changing after-school programming to girls ages 8-13. The organization—whose evidence-based curricula is known for being both fun and effective—is now offering Camp GOTR in partnership with the Greenville Liberty.
Camp GOTR by Girls on the Run provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for all girls to develop self-confidence and learn life skills they can use now and as they grow. Soccer instruction will be coached by Liberty Head Coach, Julie Carlson and Liberty players.
Led by caring and qualified Girls on the Run coaches, this week-long camp combines the best of the Girls on the Run program with all the fun of camp and the opportunity for girls to develop soccer skills at the same time.
“Drawing upon the overwhelmingly positive feedback from both parents and participants regarding last summer’s program, we are delighted to announce the return of Camp GOTR this upcoming summer,” expressed Megan Campbell, Chair of the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run Upstate SC. “We eagerly anticipate offering this enriching opportunity to the Upstate community once again, providing a platform for participants to discover the transformative power of Girls on the Run.”
Liberty Head Coach, Julie Carlson stated. “We are delighted to be partnered with GOTR and their camp programming. We believe that this is both a great opportunity for Liberty players and GOTR participants to work together in the sport of soccer to build their confidence, their skill, and the best version of themselves. The goal is to provide a healthy soccer camp that these young girls can be mentored by strong, competitive women to learn from.”
The program is designed to address physical, emotional, and social development in rising 3rd through 5th grade girls through fun and engaging lessons. Using an intentional curriculum that incorporates small and large group games, physical activity, interactive workshops, and individual reflection, girls learn valuable skills to help them build meaningful and positive connections with others.
Camp GOTR is open to rising 3rd – 5th grade girls and will be offered during the week of June 3rd at the Pavilion Recreation Complex. For more information on how to register as a volunteer or participant, please visit www.greenvilleliberty.com/soccer-camp/.
