Brathwaite earns First-Team, Conti earns Second-Team All-League
Greenville, SC (August 3, 2022)- Two Greenville Liberty players were featured in the USL W League’s Inaugural Teams of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. Midfielder, Christian Brathwaite earned First-Team honors, and forward, Caroline Conti earned Second-Team honors after a 9-3-2 season that saw the club win the South Atlantic division and make the W League Playoff Semifinals.
Seventeen-year-old, Christian Brathwaite was a playmaker in the Liberty midfield all season long. She appeared in 13 matches and recorded four goals and four assists and was the only player to win Goal of the Week twice. The Charlotte native was also voted to the May Team of the Month, named the league’s Young Player of the Year, and secured a nomination for Player of the Year in the USL W League.
Greenville native and Clemson forward, Caroline Conti was a fan favorite among the Liberty community in 2022. In the inaugural home opener, Conti scored a hat trick in Greenville’s 6-1 win over NC Courage. Despite only appearing in nine matches throughout the season, she tallied a total of 10 goals and four assists, averaging over one goal per game played. Along with Brathwaite, Conti was named May Team of the Month and earned multiple Goal of the Week nominations.
